The deformation mechanism of metal can’t be described exactly. Du Xiaozhong and Wang Aili etc. [9, 10] simulated vertical rolling process by FEM and analyzed deformation characteristic of cross section and broad siding of slabs. The deformation law of metal at front and tail ends of slabs at different technological parameters is also studied. This shows that a great attention is paid to roughing stage of continuous hot strip rolling. Much experimental and simulation studies were carried out aiming at deformation law of metal during vertical-horizontal rolling process.

Mechanical tests of free standing film without substrates have been attracting much attention to obtain various properties of monolithic film, and they are very important from scientific points of view [1, 2]. However total properties of film and substrate are also important since most films are used with substrates. Deformation and fracture behavior of metal and ceramic films on polymer substrates has been actively investigated [3-7]. In this paper, small rounded-rectangular gold thin films called “strips” were deposited in different directions on plate specimens of polycarbonate, and slit and indentations were introduced as initial defects on each strip.

Sodium silicate modulus (Mo) was the molar ratio of SiO2 to Na2O in the filtrate. The experimental values for the responses were shown in Table 1.
