Going from Christian school to public school] I did start to notice that teacher expectations were different for me as a Black student. Before, no one ever told me that I wasn’t smarter; teachers didn’t seem to have that low expectation. My parents, my mom is a social worker and my dad is a counselor, were really involved in Christian school and they could come by and talk to the teachers.
