Smart Systems Integration and Simulation by Nicola Bombieri, Massimo Poncino, Graziano Pravadelli

By Nicola Bombieri, Massimo Poncino, Graziano Pravadelli

This book-presents new tools and instruments for the mixing and simulation of clever units. The layout technique defined during this booklet explicitly money owed for integration of shrewdpermanent structures elements and subsystems as a particular constraint. It contains methodologies and EDA instruments to permit multi-disciplinary and multi-scale modeling and layout, simulation of multi-domain platforms, subsystems and elements in any respect degrees of abstraction, method integration and exploration for optimization of useful and non-functional metrics.
By protecting theoretical and functional facets of shrewdpermanent equipment layout, this publication pursuits those who find themselves operating and learning on hardware/software modelling, part integration and simulation below diverse positions (system integrators, designers, builders, researchers, academics, scholars etc.). particularly, it's a reliable advent to those who have curiosity in dealing with heterogeneous parts in a good and powerful manner on diversified domain names and various abstraction degrees. humans energetic in shrewdpermanent gadget improvement can comprehend either the present prestige of perform and destiny study directions.

· presents a finished review of clever structures layout, targeting layout demanding situations and state of the art solutions;

· allows improvement of a co-simulation and co-design atmosphere that debts for the peculiarities of the fundamental subsystems and elements to be integrated;

· Describes improvement of modeling and layout concepts, tools and instruments that allow multi-domain simulation and optimization at a number of degrees of abstraction and throughout various technological domains.

HW-dependent SW (HdS) is SW that controls and abstracts HW functionality, to allow easy and standard access to HW devices and the deployment of more abstracted SW. HdS is thus in charge of managing communication with HW and it needs to be reactive to signals and interrupts risen by HW devices. Each HdS function is mapped to a UNIVERCM automaton, evolving among a certain set of states via transitions (note that continuous time evolution is not supported for this domain). Each function is provided with two special labels: an activation label (representing function invocation and activated by automata willing to execute the function) and a return label (used to communicate to the caller that the function has finished its execution).

Nevertheless, modeling and design capabilities for heterogeneous components and subsystems are today available at specialized design houses and silicon makers in various forms. On the other hand, system integrators typically have separate tooling to model the environment. As a result, the challenge in the realization of a smart system goes beyond the design of the individual components and subsystems (an already difficult task by itself), but rather consists in accommodating a multitude of functionality, technologies, and materials.
